Club Overview
Churakids hosts monthly cooking classes in English for children aged 4 to 12. Through various menus, children learn about the joy of cooking and the importance of food. The club also aims to foster international exchange, allowing children to experience Japanese culture through cooking and develop a global perspective while having fun.
Cultural Exchange and Learning Through Food
Children improve their culinary skills while experiencing Japanese culture. They learn about local ingredients and traditional cooking methods, broadening their cultural understanding.
Churakids Cooking Club welcomes everyone! Enjoy seasonal recipes using fresh ingredients, including Japanese-Western fusion dishes and traditional Japanese festival foods. It’s a fun learning experience filled with children’s smiles. Join us for an exciting culinary adventure!
Cultural Immersion
Children experience Japanese culture firsthand through cooking. They learn about traditional ingredients, cooking methods, and the cultural significance of various dishes.
Acquiring Cooking Skills
Children challenge themselves with simple recipes using seasonal ingredients. They learn basic cooking techniques suitable for children, such as how to safely handle kitchen tools and prepare various dishes.
Food Education and Health
Using vegetables grown in our Farming Club, children learn the importance of ingredients. By considering nutritional balance and enjoying self-made dishes, they develop an interest in food and a sense of gratitude.
Cultivating Global Awareness
By cooking together with local Japanese children, participants naturally enjoy cross-cultural exchange. Communication through cooking provides an excellent opportunity to experience Japanese culture and make new friends.

- Do we need to be Churakids members to participate?
No, you don’t need to be a member. We welcome everyone to join our cooking classes.
- Is it okay if my child doesn’t speak Japanese?
Absolutely! Our classes are conducted in English, so your child doesn’t need to speak Japanese to participate fully. Our staff is bilingual and can provide support in both English and Japanese to ensure all children can enjoy the experience and interact with their peers.
- How do you handle food allergies?
Please inform us about any allergies when you apply. We will do our best to accommodate, but complete removal or substitution may be difficult in some cases. We will consult with you individually for details.
- Is parking available?
Yes, you can use the parking lot at Okinawa City Welfare and Culture Plaza.
- Can parents observe the class?
To create a comfortable learning environment for all children, we kindly ask parents not to observe or participate in the cooking class. Our experienced staff will ensure your child’s safety and enjoyment throughout the session.
- What should we bring?
Please bring a water bottle. We will provide aprons and hair covers on the day. If your child has long hair, please bring a hair tie.
- What’s your cancellation policy?
We offer full refunds for cancellations made up to 3 days before the event. We cannot offer refunds for cancellations after that. Please notify us as early as possible if you need to cancel, as we need to prepare ingredients.
- Can children take home the food they cook?
Generally, we taste the food in the classroom. For some menus, children may be able to take home their creations, following proper food safety guidelines. Details will be provided in each session’s announcement.
