Come learn to be a camping expert while experiencing the beautiful outdoors of Okinawa!✨ Churakids Camping Club is an adventure-themed event where American and Japanese participants can learn new camping skills, eat meals they helped to make, search the sky for shooting stars, and build friendships together through both conversation and fun activities. In Yanbaru’s beautiful nature, let’s try to see, touch, and think about things we can’t usually experience!😃
In order to help prevent infection with the new coronavirus, this time Churakids Camping Club will be a Day Camp experience instead of an overnight event.
January 10, 2021
Vol.4 “Kenmin no Mori (Prefectural Citizen’s Forest)”
This campsite is found on Mount Atsuta. Extending from East to West, there is a mountain hiking course where we can explore the mountain’s ridge, and a mountain stream hiking course where we can follow the river.
There are more than 250 species of plants you can see, such as various types of ferns and flowers. You can also come into contact with many different animals in Okinawa, such as wild birds, insects, amphibians living in the water, and reptiles. You may even see a rare bird or other creature if you are lucky! 🤓
When camping, knot tying is a very important skill! We will practice knots such as the Bowline Knot, also known as the “King of Knots,” and learn how to use them practically in the outdoors and other situations. Let’s see how many knots we can learn and remember together!🤓
We will hike at Atsuta-dake at an altitude of 160m by walking along the mountain stream. You will learn how to observe various animals and plants and how to use ropes in the mountains.🤓
Cooking over a fire is fun! We will try our outdoor cooking skills together using seasonal ingredients.
